Private Ten-Day Sweet, Sweet Trinidad and Tobago Birding Tour
A private ten-day birding route with six nights on Trinidad and three on Tobago, spanning Northern Range rainforest, Caroni mangroves and Tobago’s coast.
About this tour
This private ten-day itinerary divides nine nights between Trinidad and Tobago: six on Trinidad and three on Tobago. The islands sit close to South America and support a broad mainland-influenced bird community alongside localized forms and the critically endangered Trinidad Piping-Guan.
On Trinidad, the programme begins at Asa Wright and its rainforest trails, hummingbird-rich gardens and Bearded Bellbird habitat. Higher-elevation birding along Blanchisseuse Road adds Northern Range species before the route descends to Dunston Cave for Oilbirds and continues by boat into the mangroves of Caroni Swamp. The north-coast sector around Grande Riviere is used for the piping-guan search and further lowland forest birding.
The final part moves to Tobago. Forest in the Main Ridge reserve, coastal stops and a boat trip toward Little Tobago broaden the experience to island specialties and seabirds. The official estimate is more than 300 species, although individual sightings depend on season, weather and local conditions. Trails are mostly maintained and relatively level, with light or moderate ascents taken at a measured pace. The maximum group size is ten clients plus the guide. This tour now operates by private arrangement, so exact dates, price and the final logistics are confirmed for each group.
