Black-crested Antshrike

Sakesphorus canadensis (Linnaeus, 1766)

Black-crested Antshrike, Sakesphorus canadensis, is a passerine antbird of South America, with a breeding range from eastern Colombia to the Guianas, Trinidad and northern Amazonia. It is a resident bird and is placed in the family Thamnophilidae. The species has a shaggy crest in both sexes, and the adult male of the nominate form has a black head and throat, a white band on the nape, and cinnamon-brown upperparts. Females are different, with a rufous crown and cinnamon tones on the neck and upperparts.
