Black-faced Solitaire

Black-faced Solitaire, Myadestes melanops, is a thrush of the highlands in Costa Rica and Panama, where it lives in wet mountain forest. It is closely tied to dense undergrowth and bamboo clumps, and is usually found between 750 and 3,000 m, though it may move down to 400 m in the wet season. The adult is slate grey with a black face and chin, set off by a broad orange bill. It is a slim bird, and the underwing coverts are silvery white and show clearly in flight.
