A six-day Chiriqui birding circuit from high-elevation cloud forest to western lowlands, with Volcan Baru, La Amistad, private reserves and feeder sites.
About this tour
This six-day tour links the cloud forests of the Chiriqui Highlands with the warmer western lowlands. The altitudinal range reaches roughly 3,200 metres and allows the route to sample agricultural areas, mature mountain forest, volcanic lakes, coffee country and lowland birding sites within manageable drives.
Highland days explore Volcan Baru National Park, Los Quetzales Trail and La Amistad International Park, followed by Tamandua’s private cloud-forest reserve and hummingbird garden. The route then visits Finca Hartmann before descending to Paraiso and a hummingbird-rich family property in the lowlands. These contrasting habitats support a broad mix of Talamanca specialties and western Panamanian birds.
The published package includes guiding, transport, domestic flights, accommodation, meals, non-alcoholic drinks and entrance fees. Some uphill walking, muddy trails and wet conditions should be expected. Species named in the programme are priorities, and every sighting remains dependent on season and field conditions.
