Euplectes nigroventris
The Black-winged Red Bishop is a small passerine bird native to sub-Saharan Africa. The male sports striking breeding plumage, with a bright red body, black wings, and a contrasting yellow bill. During the non-breeding season, the male's plumage becomes more subdued, resembling that of the female. The female is a dull brown color with streaks and has a shorter tail. These birds are often found in open grasslands, marshes, and agricultural areas, where they forage for seeds and insects. They are known for their acrobatic displays during courtship, where the males perform elaborate flight and song routines to attract females.
