Blue-backed Manakin

The Blue-backed Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of South America. The males are known for their vibrant blue back and black plumage, while the females have olive-green upperparts and yellow underparts. These birds are known for their unique courtship displays, where males gather in leks to perform coordinated dances to attract females. Blue-backed Manakins feed on fruits, insects, and small arthropods. They inhabit dense, humid forests and are often found in the understory and mid-story levels. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the conservation status of the Blue-backed Manakin is currently categorized as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
