Blue Ground Dove, Claravis pretiosa, is a bird of Middle America and South America, breeding from eastern Mexico to northern Argentina and south-eastern Brazil. It is a resident species in tropical country and is found in open woodland, forest margins, clearings and along roads, with a preference for wetter areas. It is a small dove of the Columbidae family. It nests in a loose twig platform placed in a tree, usually between 1 and 11 m above the ground, and lays two white eggs. It is also recorded from Trinidad in the Caribbean.
