Anatidae — Ducks, Geese, Swans

Blue-winged Goose, Cyanochen cyanoptera, is a goose-like waterbird in the Anatidae family and the only species placed in the genus Cyanochen. It is found only in Ethiopia, where it breeds in montane areas of the country. The bird is stocky and grey-brown, with a slightly paler head and upper neck, a small black bill and black legs. In flight, the pale blue upper forewing stands out. It is quiet, though both sexes may give a high-pitched whistle, and it may also produce a barking alarm call when disturbed.
