Brahminy Kite, Haliastur indus, is a bird of prey of coastal and wetland areas across Pakistan to Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea and satellites, and coastal Australia except Tasmania, with further breeding in the Bismarck Archipelago and Solomon Islands. It is a familiar resident in much of this region and can also move seasonally with rainfall. Adults are set apart by chestnut plumage with a white head and breast, while the wings end in black tips. It is usually seen in plains, though it may occur high in the Himalayas.
