Brown-banded Antpitta

Brown-banded Antpitta, Grallaria milleri, is a bird of the central Andes of Colombia in South America, where it breeds in the temperate zone. It was described by Chapman in 1912 and belongs to the antpitta family, Grallariidae. The nominate form occurs on the western and eastern slopes in Caldas, Quindío and Tolima, while a second subspecies is known from a specimen collected in Antioquia. It lives in regenerating areas with Chusquea bamboo or alder after disturbance, usually between 2,700 and 3,200 m, with records down to 1,800 m.
