Chroicocephalus maculipennis
The Brown-hooded Gull is a small to medium-sized gull found in South America. It has a distinctive brown hood and a white body with gray wings. These gulls are commonly found along the coasts, estuaries, and inland waters of Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay. They are opportunistic feeders, scavenging for food in urban areas and foraging for fish, crustaceans, and insects in their natural habitats. The Brown-hooded Gull is known for its agile flight and its raucous calls. Although not currently classified by the IUCN, their populations may face threats from habitat loss and human disturbance.
