Brown-throated Barbet

Psilopogon mystacophanos

The Brown-throated Barbet is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive brown head and throat, with a bright green body and red patches on its face. This species is known for its loud, repetitive call that echoes through the forest canopy. Brown-throated Barbets feed on fruits, insects, and small reptiles, using their stout bills to forage in the trees. They are cavity nesters, often using old woodpecker holes or excavating their own nests in dead trees. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to this species.
