Buff-winged Starfrontlet

Coeligena lutetiae

The Buff-winged Starfrontlet is a species of hummingbird found in the Andes of South America. It is known for its striking plumage, with males displaying iridescent green and blue feathers on the head and throat, and buff-colored wings. Females have similar plumage but lack the iridescence. These birds are typically found in montane cloud forests and humid mountainous areas, where they feed on nectar from flowers and small insects. The Buff-winged Starfrontlet plays an important role in pollination within its habitat. Due to habitat loss and potential threats from climate change, conservation efforts are important to ensure the survival of this species.
