Canada Jay, Perisoreus canadensis, is a passerine of North America’s boreal forests, reaching the tree line and also occurring in subalpine coniferous country in the Rocky Mountains as far south as New Mexico and Arizona. It is a member of the crow family and is also called the grey jay. The bird keeps to permanent territories through the year and lives in coniferous woodland. It is known for storing food during warmer periods and using those caches in winter. Pairs are monogamous, and a third juvenile from the previous season often remains with them. It readily comes close to people for food.
