Cape Bunting

Cape Bunting, Emberiza capensis, is a bunting of the family Emberizidae found in open rocky shrubland across southern Africa, from south-western Angola east to western Mozambique and south through South Africa. It is a passerine bird of rocky slopes and dry scrub, especially in mountainous areas in the north of its range. The species is marked by a black crown, a white supercilium and white ear coverts edged in black, with chestnut wing coverts and a darker chestnut tail. The sexes are much alike, though females can show a buff wash on the white head markings.
