Cape Long-billed Lark

Certhilauda curvirostris (Hermann, 1783)

Cape Long-billed Lark, Certhilauda curvirostris, is a lark of the family Alaudidae that occurs in south-western Africa, with breeding in south-west Namibia and western and southern South Africa. It was first described in 1783 by Hermann. The bird is associated with semi-arid Karoo shrub, dry subtropical shrubland, and dry grassland in lowland and highveld areas. It also occurs in croplands, farmland and coastal fynbos. Three subspecies are recognised, and one, brevirostris, has sometimes been treated as the Agulhas long-billed lark.
