Chestnut-bellied Rock Thrush

Myophonus castaneus

The Chestnut-bellied Rock Thrush is a medium-sized thrush found in the forests and rocky areas of Southeast Asia. It is known for its striking plumage, with the male sporting a deep blue head and back, contrasting with a rich chestnut belly. The female is more subdued, with brownish-gray plumage. These birds are skilled at perching and foraging on rocky outcrops and are often heard singing melodious tunes from their elevated positions. They primarily feed on insects and small fruits. Although not currently classified, their populations may be threatened by habitat loss and degradation.
