Pycnonotus barbatus (Desfontaines, 1789)

Common Bulbul, Pycnonotus barbatus, is a widespread breeding bird across Africa and is also established in southernmost Spain. It belongs to the bulbul family and was first described in 1789 by Desfontaines. The species is found in woodland, forest margins, coastal scrub, riverine bush, montane scrub, mixed farmland, gardens, parks and exotic thickets. It has a long tail, a dark brown head, brown upperparts and dull grey underparts. The bill is short and slender with a slight downward curve, and the bill, legs and feet are black.
