Common Myna

Common Myna, Acridotheres tristis, is a passerine in the starling family that breeds widely across the Oriental Region. It is native to Asia and is also known as the Indian myna, with mynah as an alternative spelling. The bird is closely associated with open woodland and has adapted very successfully to towns and cities. Its range has expanded quickly, and it has been identified as one of the world’s most invasive birds. It is regarded as a major threat to biodiversity, agriculture and human interests, and in Australia it has been described as the most important pest or problem.
