Calonectris borealis
Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris borealis) is a large seabird that belongs to the shearwater family. It has a wingspan of around 95-110 cm and is known for its graceful, gliding flight over the open ocean. This species is primarily pelagic, spending most of its life at sea, only returning to land to breed. Cory's Shearwaters are known for their haunting, moaning calls that can be heard during the breeding season. They are skilled fishers, diving into the water to catch prey such as fish and squid. These birds are highly migratory, traveling long distances between their breeding and wintering grounds.
