Cynanthus forficatus (Ridgway, 1885)

Cozumel Emerald, Cynanthus forficatus, is a hummingbird of the islands off the Yucatán Peninsula, confined to Cozumel Island in Middle America. It is a year-round resident there and has also been recorded from Isla Mujeres, where it may appear only occasionally. Its habitat has been described as scrub, low deciduous island forest, brushy woodland and second growth. The male has a black bill with a red tip, a bright golden to golden green crown, and a long, deeply forked tail. The female has a different bill pattern, a white stripe behind the eye and a less forked tail.
