Crested Treeswift, Hemiprocne coronata, is a resident breeder across India and much of south-east Asia, within the Oriental Region. It belongs to the treeswifts and was first described by Tickell in 1833. The bird is a slender, crested species with a long, deeply forked tail, and its flight is marked by long, bowed wings. It lives in open woodland and deciduous forest, and also uses open ground with trees, parks and gardens. It is found in small groups, often circling high above the trees, and may perch upright on a bare branch or tree top.
