Daurian Redstart

Phoenicurus auroreus

The Daurian Redstart is a small passerine bird native to East Asia. Males have striking black and orange plumage, with a distinctive red tail. Females are more subdued, with gray-brown upperparts and a rufous tail. These birds are often found in open woodlands, forest edges, and scrubby areas, where they forage for insects and small invertebrates. They are known for their lively and active behavior, often flicking their wings and tail. The Daurian Redstart is a migratory species, breeding in northern Asia and wintering in southern China and Japan.
