Desert Wheatear

Oenanthe deserti

The Desert Wheatear is a small, insectivorous bird found in arid and semi-arid regions of the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. It has a distinctive black throat and white supercilium, with the male sporting a striking blue-grey back and the female a more subdued brownish-grey plumage. These birds are often seen perched on rocks or low shrubs, where they hunt for insects and small invertebrates. They are known for their long migratory journeys, traveling thousands of kilometers between their breeding and wintering grounds. The Desert Wheatear is a resilient species, well-adapted to the harsh desert environment.
