Eastern Violet-backed Sunbird, Anthreptes orientalis, is a bird in the family Nectariniidae that breeds in Africa from Ethiopia and central Somalia to South Sudan, Rwanda and southern Tanzania. It was described by Hartlaub in 1880. It is associated with arid savanna in East Africa, and its range extends from Djibouti in the north to Tanzania in the south. It belongs to the violet-backed sunbird superspecies.
