Egyptian Goose, Alopochen aegyptiaca, is a member of the Anatidae family within the order Anseriformes. It is native to Africa, with a breeding range extending from southern Mauritania through southern Egypt and Ethiopia to South Africa. The species is widespread across sub-Saharan Africa and the Nile Valley, and it is also found in open or semi-open country near fresh water. It has been introduced beyond its natural range, including parts of Europe and the United States. Egyptian geese were also depicted in ancient Egyptian art.
