Eurasian Skylark

Alauda arvensis

The Eurasian Skylark is a small, brown-streaked bird known for its melodious, ascending song that is often delivered in flight. This species is widely distributed across Europe and Asia, favoring open grasslands, farmlands, and meadows. It is a ground-nesting bird, building its nest in a shallow depression on the ground. The Eurasian Skylark feeds primarily on seeds and insects, foraging on the ground. This species is known for its impressive aerial displays during courtship, with males ascending high into the sky while singing. Despite facing some threats from agricultural intensification and habitat loss, the Eurasian Skylark is still a common and widespread species.
