Mareca penelope
The Eurasian Wigeon is a medium-sized dabbling duck found in the Northern Hemisphere. The male has a distinctive pinkish-brown head with a creamy-yellow forehead and a gray body with black and white markings. The female is mottled brown with a pale blue bill. These ducks are often found in freshwater wetlands, marshes, and estuaries, where they feed on aquatic plants and invertebrates. They are known for their whistling calls and are often seen in large flocks during the winter months. The Eurasian Wigeon is not globally threatened and is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.
