Fasciated Tiger-Heron

Tigrisoma fasciatum

The Fasciated Tiger-Heron is a medium-sized heron found in the wetlands and forests of Central and South America. It has a distinctive appearance with a black crown, blue-gray body, and bold black and white stripes on its neck and breast. This species is often found near water, where it hunts for fish, amphibians, and insects. It is known for its secretive nature and can be difficult to spot due to its excellent camouflage. The Fasciated Tiger-Heron is not considered globally threatened, but it may face local threats from habitat loss and human disturbance.
