Forest Buzzard

Forest Buzzard, Buteo trizonatus, is a bird of prey that breeds in southern and eastern South Africa, especially in evergreen woodland. It was described by Rudebeck in 1957 and belongs to the family Accipitridae. It is closely tied to forested country and also uses planted eucalyptus and pines. A key feature is its resemblance to the steppe buzzard, which can make it difficult to separate in the field. It is a resident breeder in its range, and its distribution forms an arc through the south of the continent.
