Forest thrush

Turdus lherminieri

The Forest thrush (Turdus lherminieri) is a medium-sized thrush found in the Caribbean. It has a distinctive olive-brown upperparts and a pale underbelly with dark spots. This species is known for its melodious and flute-like song, often heard in the dense forest undergrowth. The Forest thrush is primarily insectivorous, foraging on the forest floor for insects, worms, and small fruits. It nests in dense vegetation, constructing cup-shaped nests out of twigs, leaves, and moss. Due to habitat loss and deforestation, the Forest thrush is facing population declines in some parts of its range.
