Fork-tailed Drongo

Dicrurus hottentottus

The Fork-tailed Drongo is a medium-sized passerine bird native to sub-Saharan Africa and some parts of Asia. It is known for its glossy black plumage and distinctive forked tail. These birds are highly vocal and are often found in open woodlands, savannas, and forest edges. They are adept at mimicking the calls of other bird species and are known for their aggressive behavior, often mobbing much larger birds to steal food. The Fork-tailed Drongo is an opportunistic feeder, preying on insects and small vertebrates. Despite being relatively common, habitat loss and fragmentation pose threats to their populations in some regions.
