Giant Antshrike, Batara cinerea, is a passerine antbird of the Thamnophilidae family found in South America, with its breeding range in south-west Amazonia and south-east Brazil. It lives in a disjunct pattern across Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay, and the nominate form is separate from the other populations. The bird is the only member of Batara. It was first described by Vieillot in 1819. It favours the understorey and mid-storey, and is usually associated with dense vegetation, especially large bamboo stands.
