Golden Nightjar, Caprimulgus eximius, is a nightjar of north, north-central and western Africa, breeding across the Sahel from northern Senegal and Mauritania east to Sudan. It is a distinctive member of the family Caprimulgidae, with a pale look in flight and a large white mark near the wing tips. At rest it shows a large-headed shape, a whitish throat patch, and patterned upperparts that become plainer below. It lives in arid steppe, semi-desert, and stony ground with scattered vegetation, avoiding dense scrub and woodland.
