About this tour

Travel from Popenguine through the Kaolack, Touba, Podor and Djoudj areas on a focused Senegal birding expedition. The itinerary devotes dedicated field time to Quail-Plover and Golden Nightjar while also exploring Sahel savannah, dry-country habitats and the internationally important wetlands of Djoudj.

The programme includes advance assessment of the Quail-Plover site and a low-disturbance approach in the field. Other regional birds sought include bustards, coursers, Scissor-tailed Kite, Little Grey Woodpecker, Cricket Warbler, River Prinia, desert cisticolas, Sennar Penduline Tit, Black Scrub-Robin and Sudan Golden Sparrow. Sightings always depend on current conditions and bird activity.
