Golden-olive Woodpecker, Colaptes rubiginosus, occurs in Middle and South America from Mexico to Guyana, north-west Peru and north-west Argentina. It is a woodpecker in the family Picidae, first described by Swainson in 1820. The species is found from Mexico south and east through Panama, and across mainland South America apart from Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. It is one of the species placed in Colaptes. The breeding range given for it matches this broad span.
