Colaptes rubiginosus
The Golden-olive Woodpecker is a medium-sized woodpecker found in Central and South America. It has a distinctive olive-green back and wings, a golden-yellow head and underparts, and a red crown patch on males. This species is often found in humid forests, forest edges, and wooded areas, where it forages for insects and occasionally fruits by tapping on tree trunks and branches. It also excavates nest cavities in dead trees. The Golden-olive Woodpecker is considered a species of Least Concern by the IUCN, as it has a wide distribution and is not currently facing major threats.
