Muyil and Sian Ka'an Birding Tour
A birding tour south of Tulum combining Muyil village, Sian Ka'an forest, wetlands, boardwalk and optional lagoon boat experience.
About this tour
Begin around Muyil village south of Tulum, where secondary growth, flowering plants and fruiting trees attract tanagers, hummingbirds and other forest-edge birds. Likely search areas vary with current activity, but may produce Rose-throated, Blue-gray and Yellow-winged Tanagers, Wedge-tailed Sabrewing and Keel-billed Toucan.
The route continues into taller forest around the Muyil archaeological zone within Sian Ka’an. Woodpeckers, woodcreepers, trogons, forest-falcons and ant-tanagers are among the possible groups here. A boardwalk then crosses the transition from forest toward mangrove and lagoon habitats, adding a different bird community to the day.
An optional boat journey and canal experience can be included for guests who want to see more of the reserve landscape. This portion emphasizes the wetland setting and scenery rather than continuous intensive birding. Access, boat arrangements and final timing are confirmed for the requested date.
