Collared Forest Falcon, Micrastur semitorquatus, is a bird of prey in the Falconidae family found from central Mexico to northern Argentina. It lives in tropical rainforest across Middle and South America, where it is a regular part of the forest fauna. It is the largest member of Micrastur. It stays high in the canopy and is hard to see, so it is often identified by its distinctive call. Nesting is mainly in cavities of Spanish cedar trees, which are also heavily used by the local logging industry.
