Great Argus, Argusianus argus, lives in the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo in the Oriental Region. It is a pheasant in the family Phasianidae and was first described by Linnaeus in 1766. The bird is notable for its striking plumage and elaborate courtship display. Males are among the largest pheasants, with very long tail feathers and greatly extended secondary wing feathers marked with large eyespots. Females are smaller and less showy, with shorter tails and fewer eyespots. The species has no uropygial gland.
