Great Potoo

Nyctibius grandis

The Great Potoo is a large nocturnal bird found in Central and South America. With its cryptic plumage and large eyes, it is a master of camouflage, often perching vertically on tree branches to resemble a broken stump. Its haunting call echoes through the night as it waits for insects to pass by, which it catches with its wide gape. The Great Potoo is well adapted to its forest habitat and is an impressive sight to behold in the moonlit night.
