Great Tit, Parus major, is a bird of the Palearctic, breeding in western and central Eurasia and northern Africa. It belongs to the tit family Paridae and is found across Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia, reaching as far as the Amur River. It is a familiar bird in woodland, and also in parks and gardens. It is the most widespread species in Parus. It has a black head and neck, white cheeks, olive upperparts and yellow underparts. It usually nests in tree holes and is a cavity nester.
