Greater Green Leafbird

Chloropsis sonnerati Jardine & Selby, 1827

Greater Green Leafbird, Chloropsis sonnerati, is a passerine in the Chloropseidae family, breeding across the Oriental Region from Thailand to Sumatra and Borneo. It was described by Jardine & Selby in 1827. It is set apart from the lesser green leafbird by the male’s lack of a yellow edge to the black throat patch, and by the female’s yellow throat and eye ring, together with a strong bill. Its range also includes Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Singapore, with records from Sumatra, Borneo, Natuna Islands, Java and Bali.
