Pipreola riefferii (Boissonneau, 1840)
Green-and-black Fruiteater, Pipreola riefferii, is a passerine of the Cotingidae family that breeds from northern Venezuela to northern Peru. It was first described by Boissonneau in 1840. It lives in montane forest, including cloudforest, and also uses secondary woodland in subtropical and lower temperate zones. The species is split into several subspecies, with some taxonomic uncertainty. Its range is disjunct across the Andes, and the Venezuelan birds include populations in the Coastal Range and the Andes, while others occur in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
