Tringa ochropus
The Green Sandpiper (Tringa ochropus) is a medium-sized wader found in wetlands and marshy areas across Europe and Asia. It has a distinctive olive-green back and white underparts, with a prominent white eye-ring. This species is known for its solitary nature, often seen foraging along the water's edge, probing the mud with its long bill for insects and small invertebrates. Green Sandpipers are migratory birds, breeding in northern Europe and Asia and wintering in Africa and southern Asia. They prefer habitats with shallow water and dense vegetation, such as riverbanks, lakeshores, and flooded meadows.
