Green-tailed Trainbearer

Lesbia nuna

The Green-tailed Trainbearer is a striking hummingbird found in the Andes of South America. It is known for its vibrant green and blue plumage, with a long, deeply forked tail. These birds are often found in high-altitude montane forests and shrubby areas, where they feed on nectar from a variety of flowers. They are also known to catch insects in mid-air. The males display elaborate courtship flights to attract females. Despite their small size, these birds are highly territorial and can be quite aggressive in defending their feeding and nesting areas.
