Grey-headed Dove

Leptotila plumbeiceps

The Grey-headed Dove (Leptotila plumbeiceps) is a medium-sized dove found in Central and South America. It has a distinctive grey head and neck, with a pale pinkish-grey body and a white belly. This species is known for its gentle cooing calls and is often found in dense forested areas, where it forages for seeds and fruits on the forest floor. The Grey-headed Dove is generally shy and unobtrusive, often remaining hidden within the foliage. It is an important seed disperser in its habitat, contributing to the regeneration of forest plants. Although not currently considered at risk, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
