Grey-tailed Piha

Amblycercus holosericeus

The Grey-tailed Piha is a small passerine bird found in the montane forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive grey plumage with a contrasting black mask and a long, broad tail. This species is known for its melodious and far-carrying song, often heard in the early morning. Grey-tailed Pihas forage for insects and fruits in the mid to upper levels of the forest canopy. They are often observed in mixed-species flocks. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and fragmentation pose threats to its population.
