Picidae — Woodpeckers

Greyish Piculet, Picumnus granadensis, is a woodpecker found in north-west Colombia, where it is resident all year. It was described by Lafresnaye in 1847. The breeding range lies in South America, and the species is confined to Colombia. It lives in semi-open country, including forest edges, scrub and open woodland, and is recorded mainly from 800 to 2,100 m, though it may occur lower in the north of its range. Two subspecies are recognised, with the northern form in the Western Andes and the nominate farther south.
