Herero Chat

Namibornis herero

The Herero Chat, also known as Namibornis herero, is a small passerine bird found in the arid savannas and scrublands of southwestern Africa. This species is known for its distinctive black head, white throat, and rufous-brown upperparts. The Herero Chat is a territorial and solitary bird, often perching on prominent rocks or shrubs to sing its melodious song. It forages for insects and small invertebrates on the ground, using its sharp bill to probe the soil. Due to habitat loss and degradation, the Herero Chat faces conservation concerns in certain parts of its range.
