About this tour
This 14-day Namibia safari crosses central desert, Atlantic-coast wetlands, rocky Erongo landscapes and the waterholes and savanna of Etosha. Beginning and ending in Windhoek, it gives each of these sharply contrasting regions a place in the birding route.
Namibian and Angolan near-endemics form the core search, from Dune Lark and Rüppell’s Korhaan to Herero Chat, Damara Rockrunner and Monteiro’s Hornbill. Walvis Bay adds waders and other waterbirds, while Etosha broadens the experience with both birds and large mammals.

Itinerary
Day 1
Windhoek arrival and central Namibia start
Begin in Windhoek after the expected late-morning flight arrivals. The opening positions the group for the journey into central Namibia.
Day 2
Namib dunes around Sossusvlei
Enter the Sossusvlei and Namib-Naukluft area for desert birding. Dune country and the wider Namib landscape provide the first arid-zone specialities.
Day 3
Walvis Bay lagoon and coastal waders
Shift to the Atlantic coast and bird the lagoon and shoreline around Walvis Bay. Waders and other waterbirds dominate this section.
Day 4
Rocky-country species in Erongo
Search the Erongo birding sites for birds of rocky slopes and escarpments. Several southwest African specialities are associated with this terrain.
Day 5
Etosha waterholes, birds and big game
Devote the northern stage to Etosha National Park. Birding around savanna and waterholes runs alongside the park’s major mammal viewing.
Day 6
Windhoek return for onward flights
Travel back to Windhoek at the end of the circuit. Timing is arranged around suitable afternoon or evening flight connections.
